Backstory Hint

As an artist, I am drawn to the visual; my memory works best when I 'see' images in my minds eye. As writers through time have always done, I began my back storyline ponderings by reading through popular myths and legends in human history. I am also a collector of Public Domain images (images that are 100% free for commercial or personal copyright restrictions).

When I discovered the body of (Public Domain) work by John William Waterhouse, I was thrilled. His paintings tell a story themselves - of seniments and moods. Whatever that intangable element is that Waterhouse inspires within my heart, his images resonated with the tale that I wanted to tell. They are a clue to Haylee's origins....but not her entire story.

From "John William Waterhouse (born between January and April 1849; died 10 February 1917) was an English painter known for working in the Pre-Raphaelite style. His artworks were known for their depictions of women from both ancient Greek mythology and Arthurian legend.Born in Italy to English parents who were both painters, he later moved to London, where he enrolled in the Royal Academy of Art. He soon began exhibiting at their annual summer exhibitions, focusing on the creation of large canvas works depicting scenes from the daily life and mythology of ancient Greece. Later on in his career he came to embrace the Pre-Raphaelite style of painting despite the fact that it had gone out of fashion in the British art scene several decades before. "
